Mineral reserves of Uzbekistan
For years of independence, the Republic of Uzbekistan has strongly consolidated its position in the world market through several kinds of mineral resources. The current state of the mineral resources base of strategically prime importance kinds of metallic minerals, oil and gas, mineral fertilizers, underground water, and construction materials provides dynamic development of key branches of the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a regulative government body that provides state policy in the field of geological study and the use of mineral resources.
Uzbekistan is among the top ten in the world in reserves and resources of some of the most important types of minerals, such as gold (3rd place), silver (8th place), uranium (12th place), copper (10th place), potassium salts (4th place), tungsten (8th place), phosphorites and kaolin. In addition, the country occupies a leading position in the world in terms of gold production (8th place) and uranium (5th place).
It should be noted that the country’s territory has been studied in detail only by 40%, there is also a huge, but still undiscovered potential.
