Uzbekcoal JSC

The legal status of Uzbekugol JSC was established on the basis of Resolution No. 290 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 21, 2004 by converting it from the Coal Joint-Stock Company.

Main activities

  • Coal and kaolin mining in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan
  • Development of deposits by open and underground methods. Uzbekugol Joint
  • Stock Company currently produces about 6.0 million tons of coal per year. Тhe main consumer of coal fuel is the electric power sector, which accounts for over 85 percent of total coal consumption.
  • The demand for solid fuels is also formed by industrial enterprises, social and communal spheres, and the population.
  • The main factor in the priority development of the coal industry is the expediency of replacing energy resources such as natural gas and petroleum products used in electricity production in the domestic market, and increasing the share of coal in the structure of the energy balance of Uzbekistan.

Coal mining in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan is carried out:

  • Uzbekugol Joint Stock Company (Uzbekugol JSC) is developing the Angren brown coal deposit
  • Shargunkumir Joint Stock Company (Shargunkumir JSC) is developing Shargunskoye and Baisunskoye coal deposits by underground method with partial processing of extracted coal into coal briquettes
  • Joint Stock Company Yerostigaz (JSC Yerostigaz) is developing the Angren brown coal deposit by underground gasification
