The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established in line with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan № UP-116 of June 27, 2023 “On measures for effective organization of public administration in the area of mining and geology within the framework of the administrative reform”.

• Implementation of the unified state policy in the field of geological study, use, and protection of subsoil, as well as mining relations management
• Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of exploration, ensuring the growth of mineral reserves and reproduction of the mineral resource base of the economy, taking into account the incorporation of new industrial facilities on sites
• Conducting an active investment policy in the area of exploration and industrial development of mineral deposits and creating a favorable investment climate
• Preparation of proposals to ensure diversification of raw material sources for existing industries, primarily in the regions of the Republic in order to set up modern industries for production of competitive products
• Monitoring and control over the implementation of long-term, medium-term and annual state programs for the development and reproduction of the mineral resource base, an objective assessment of the methodology for geological study of subsoil, the scope, quality and reliability of results envisaged therein
• State supervision over the compliance by legal entities and individuals with the requirements of the legislation as well as regulations in the area of the use and protection of subsoil during geological study, mining (including fresh, mineral, thermal and industrial ground water), processing of mineral raw materials, as well as geological and surveying provision for mining activities
• Implementation of effective measures to modernize the geological industry via the accelerated introduction of modern high-performance exploration equipment, provision of advanced techniques and innovative technologies
• Implementation of systemic measures to ensure capacity building for the staff of geological industry with higher and secondary specialized, vocational education, retraining and advanced training for workers in the geological industry, as well as to improve incentive mechanisms for their work
• A radical increase of the scope of exploration activities, wide attraction of private investors and leading foreign companies into the industry
