The University of Geological Sciences

The University of Geological Sciences (UGS) was founded in Tashkent upon an initiative and in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan № PD-4740 of 08.06.2020. The disciplines taught here are among the most important for the development of the country. Created on the basis of modern standards, and advanced international experience, including St. Petersburg Mining University, the university will be connected with the ore mining, processing, and oil and gas industries. UGS is the first geological university in the country. The university includes:

  • Institute of Mineral Resources;
  • Institute of Geology and Geophysics named after H.M. Abdullaev;
  • Institute of Geology and Exploration for Oil and Gas Fields;
  • Institution of Further and Advanced Training in the Geological Industry;
  • Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology;

The total number of staff scientists at the University of geological Sciences is 560 people, including 31 Ph.D. and 59 candidates for Science.

Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 710 of November 24, 2021, was adopted on the establishment of a branch of the Italian University of Pisa in Tashkent.

The University of Geological Sciences and Tomsk State University signed an Agreement on the joint educational program “1 + 1” in order to train highly qualified and talented specialists in the field of the geology of our republic.

An Agreement was signed with the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU) on the implementation of the joint educational program “2 + 2” in the direction of “Geology (geophysics)” of the bachelor’s degree of the University of Geological Sciences.
