The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources (Goskomgeology) was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of February 12, 1991 No. UP-142 and operates in accordance with the Regulations on the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic Uzbekistan from 27.04.2011 N 315.
The main objectives are:
-implementation of the unified state policy in the field of geological exploration, use, and protection of subsoil, as well as management of mining relations;
-improving the efficiency and effectiveness of geological exploration, ensuring the growth of mineral reserves and reproduction of the mineral resource base of the economy, taking into account the creation of new industrial capacities in the field;
-conducting an active investment policy in the field of geological exploration and industrial development of mineral deposits and creating a favorable investment climate;
preparation of proposals for diversification of raw materials sources of existing industries, primarily in the regions of the Republic, for the organization of present-day production of rival products;
-ensuring monitoring and control over the implementation of long-term, medium-term, and annual state programs for the development and reproduction of the mineral resource base, an objective assessment of the geological subsoil study technique, the volume, quality, and reliability of their results;
-implementation of the state supervision over observance by legal entities and physical persons of requirements of the legislation and normative documents in the sphere of subsoil use and protection at their geological studying, mining operations, processing of mineral raw materials, and also geological and surveying support of mining operations;
The drastic increase in the volume of geological exploration, the wide involvement of private investors, and leading foreign companies in the field.
